The name Walis is a general name for Broom. This name comes from the Pamalis (pangwalis) as it used to be called, many older people will also know this name as Walis is used today as it literally means "something that is used for sweeping". There are 2 species in the Philippines. We know the Walis Tingting, a broom made from the veins of the palm leaves and perfect for an uneven surface of soft material and the Walis Tambo. This Walis tambo is a broom made from Phragmites grass and used more indoors or on the patio. This broom has a length of approximately 76 cm.
