Spice paste for Singapore Hainanese Chicken Rice
This herbal paste is a ready -made herbal blend for preparing this Hainanese rice dish. This rice dish is prepared with poached chicken and specially spiced rice, served with chili sauce. This dish is considered one of Singapore's national dishes. This recipe originates from a well-known Hainanese dish called Wenshang chicken. The Hainanese in China traditionally used a specific breed, the Wenshang chicken, to make the dish. They usually cooked rice with the remaining chicken broth to make a dish that is known as "Wenchang chicken rice".
Necessities:
- 1 pack of herb paste for Hainanese rice dish with chicken
- 450 grams of chicken legs
- 550 ml of water
- 250 grams of boiled rice
- Soy sauce and sesame oil to taste
- Cucumber and tomato slices such as garnish
Preparation:
- Put the rice, water and herb paste in a frying pan. Stir everything well together
- Place the chicken legs on top of the rice mixture and bring to the boil
- Put the lid on the pan and let the rice simmer for 12-15 minutes
- Switch off the heat and let Pan stand for 5-10 minutes
- Remove the chicken legs and season them as desired. Then garnish and serve hot with rice
